The American Assoication of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) recently undated its Guidelines for Vaccination. Rabies has been added to the list of core vaccines that should be administered to all horses annually in addition to our current list of West Nile, Eastern Equine Encephalomyelitis, Western Equine Encephalomyelitis, and Tetanus.

Fiddleneck: This poisonous plant blooms in January and February. The bloom can vary in color from orange to lavender and most commonly in yellow. This plant is extremely toxic to the horse. Horses that graze on this bloom will build up toxins in thier liver that can cause complete liver failure, which will ultimately cause death. It takes approximately 50lbs consumed over any period of time to reach the fatal toxic level.
